Can I still cancel my trip?
It is still possible to cancel your trip. Check our cancellation policy or discover our ultra-flexible conditions valid until 01/03/2026.
Is it expensive to travel in Iceland?

Iceland is known for being an expensive destination, but the roof tent trip helps cut costs while providing a unique experience. The Iceland Nomads road trips include the gear and reservations to simplify your budget.

Where to sleep during a road trip in Iceland?

Camping, the Iceland rooftop tent, or a converted van are the most immersive options. You can also choose typical guesthouses or cabins. The key is to book early in the summer, which is peak tourist season.

Is it easy to drive in Iceland?
Yes, the main roads are well maintained and traffic flows smoothly. You just need to adjust your driving to the wind, the sheep (often on the road!), and the weather. Note: a road tax per kilometer will be implemented starting from January 2026.
Can you camp freely in Iceland?

Wild camping is regulated. It's prohibited on private land and in national parks, but Iceland has many official campsites, often located in spectacular places. With Iceland Nomads, we book the best spots for you.

What is the best time to go to Iceland?

Iceland can be visited year-round, but the experiences vary by season. From May to September, the days are long and perfect for a Iceland road trip. In winter, the snow and northern lights create a magical atmosphere that's quieter and more intimate.

We would like to come with our children, is that possible?
Yes, absolutely. You can travel with a child, as long as your group does not exceed 3 people per vehicle. That’s the maximum we recommend to keep the trip comfortable, especially with all the camping gear provided. If you’re traveling as a group of 3 and your child is over 8 years old, we’ll provide an additional ground tent. If they’re younger, they can sleep with you in the rooftop tent or in the converted van. If you’re traveling with a young child, you’re also entitled to an additional discount. Just send us an email to request it. If you want to travel with 2 children or more, unfortunately, you’ll need to book 2 vehicles. With all the camping gear included, traveling with more than 3 people in the same vehicle isn’t comfortable.
Can I do this road trip alone?

Unfortunately, our road trip is not designed for solo travelers, mainly because of the long distances to cover. That's why we recommend traveling with at least 2 people.Additionally, prices are always calculated based on 2 people. It is possible to do the road trip alone, but in that case, you will need to pay double the base price.

Do you want to do your part for nature?

Thanks to our collaboration with Greentripper, you can offset the CO₂ emissions linked to your trip. Your contribution supports a certified project in Uganda that distributes more efficient cooking stoves, significantly reducing fuel consumption. Travelbase also contributes to this initiative.

Is there on-site support?
Upon your arrival in Iceland, you will be warmly welcomed by our on-site rangers. They will greet you and provide an explanation before you start your 7-day road trip. During your journey, you will find all the useful information in our app. Additionally, just before your departure, you will have access to a WhatsApp group with all the participants leaving on the same date. In this group, you can communicate with each other, and someone from the team will also be available in case of an emergency.
What are the Superflex cancellation conditions?
These conditions are available to all those who book early. They allow you to move your trip to another date within the same season (subject to availability) or to cancel free of charge before 03/01/2026.
Can you swim in the Icelandic waterfalls?
No, it's extremely dangerous and prohibited. The water is icy (often between 2 and 8°C), the currents are strong, and the rocks are slippery. Every year, tourists die by ignoring these dangers. Enjoy the waterfalls from a distance, safely.
How does the payment process work?
Within 5 days of your registration, you will need to pay a deposit of 35% to confirm your trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to modify your options and pay the balance. If you change your options, the total amount will be recalculated automatically. If you haven’t opted for damage coverage, you will also need to pay a deposit before departure (more info in the insurance section). There are different payment options. Did your payment fail? It’s probably due to an error when entering the reference number or exceeding your account limit.
With how many people can you take this road trip?
Iceland Nomads has been specially designed for groups of 2 or 3 people.
  • If you are 2, you can choose either the 4x4 with a rooftop tent or the converted van.
  • If you are 3, you can opt for the 4x4. We provide an extra ground tent and the necessary camping gear (mattress, sleeping bag, and pillow), as the rooftop tent is only big enough for two people.

The main waterfalls along the Ring Road (Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Gullfoss, Goðafoss) remain accessible in winter and look stunning with the ice. However, Dettifoss, Svartifoss, and all the waterfalls in the Highlands are inaccessible from November to April (roads closed).
