FAQ

Here are some of our frequently asked questions. Couldn’t find your answer? Don’t hesitate to send us an email.

With how many people can you take this road trip?

Iceland Nomads is specially designed for groups of 2 or 3 people. If you are 2, you can choose either the 4x4 with a rooftop tent or the converted van.If you are 3, you can opt for the 4x4. We provide an additional ground tent and the necessary camping gear (mattress, sleeping bag, and pillow), as the rooftop tent is only large enough for two people.Want to go with more than 3 people? That’s possible, but you'll need to form several small groups. Each group must register separately and will be assigned its own vehicle.Feel free to contact us in advance to check availability.

How does the payment process work?

Within 5 days of your registration, you will need to pay a deposit of 35% to confirm your trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to modify your options and pay the remaining balance. If you change your options, the total amount will be recalculated automatically. If you did not opt for damage coverage, you will also need to pay a deposit before departure (more information in the insurance section). There are different payment options. Did your payment fail? It’s likely due to an error when entering the reference number or exceeding your account limit.

What does the foodpack consist of?

Our food pack contains freeze-dried meals that only require adding hot water and ingredients for you to cook them yourself. We have a meat version and a vegetarian version that include 3 meals per person per day for the entire duration of your trip.Attention: Please note that the food pack is not suitable for individuals with allergies or those on strict diets, as it may contain traces of peanuts, gluten, and other allergens.

What documents do I need to travel to Iceland?
  • A valid ID card or an international passport that is valid for up to 6 months after your return.
  • A national, European, or international driving license.
Do you want to do your part for nature?

Thanks to our collaboration with Greentripper, you can offset the CO₂ emissions linked to your trip. Your contribution supports a certified project in Uganda that distributes more efficient cooking stoves, significantly reducing fuel consumption. Travelbase also contributes to this initiative.

Can I still cancel my trip?

It is still possible to cancel your trip. Check our cancellation policy or discover our ultra-flexible conditions valid until 01/03/2026.

We would like to come with our children, is that possible?
It's possible to travel with your children, as long as you don't exceed the number of 3 people per car. From our experience, we know that with the luggage and equipment we provide (cooking gear, table, chairs, sleeping bags, etc.), it is not comfortable to travel with 2 adults and 3 children in the same car. For younger children, we suggest they sleep in the rooftop tent between their parents. For children over 8 years old, we will provide an additional ground tent.
How old do I need to be to drive in Iceland?

For this trip, you must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver's license for 2 years.

What are the Superflex cancellation conditions?
These conditions are available to those who book early. They allow you to move your trip to another time in the same season (subject to availability) or to cancel free of charge before 03/01/2026.
What are the extra costs?
  • Tourist tax: €17.50 per person.
  • Road tax: about €10 per day.
  • Fuel: approximately €400 for the entire trip.
  • Food and drinks: more info above.
  • Parking: in towns or tourist sites.
Is there on-site support?

Upon your arrival in Iceland, you will be warmly welcomed by our rangers on-site. They will greet you and give you a brief explanation before you start your 7-day road trip.During your journey, you'll find all the useful information in our app. Additionally, just before your departure, you will have access to a WhatsApp group with all the participants leaving on the same date. In this group, you can communicate with each other, and someone from the team will also be available in case of an emergency.

What’s in the roadbook?

The travel booklet contains all the necessary information for a successful visit to Iceland. The complete itinerary is mapped out. You'll visit the most famous spots in Iceland, but we'll also guide you to hidden gems that aren't yet on most tourist maps. We provide suggested stops, but you're free to follow them or add your own stops. It also includes a list of unique addresses where you can grab a drink or a meal in the evening.

Can I do this road trip alone?

Unfortunately, our road trip is not designed for solo travelers, mainly because of the long distances to cover. That's why we recommend traveling with at least 2 people.Additionally, prices are always calculated based on 2 people. It is possible to do the road trip alone, but in that case, you will need to pay double the base price.

Can I customize the trip to my liking?

We offer a road trip of 7 or 10 days, fully mapped out, so it's not possible to adjust the duration and itinerary of the trip. You are of course free to extend your trip on your own initiative by staying, for example, a few extra days in Iceland afterwards.
