Here are some of our frequently asked questions. Couldn’t find your answer? Don’t hesitate to send us an email.
For your trip through Iceland , you must be at least 21 years old and have held a driver's license for 2 years to be allowed to drive a car.
Our roadbook contains all the information you need for a successful road trip in Iceland.
It includes the complete itinerary, featuring all the hotspots and hidden gems that you won't find in big travel guides. The places we recommend are always suggestions: you can choose which sights to visit and how much time to spend at each.
Additionally, our roadbook also features various great spots where you can grab something to eat or drink.
Our food pack includes freeze-dried meals that only require hot water, as well as ingredients for you to cook your own meals.
We offer both a vegetarian option and an option with meat. Each pack contains three meals per person per day for the full duration of your road trip (7 days).
Please note that the food pack is not suitable for people with allergies or those following a strict diet, as it may contain traces of peanuts, gluten, and other allergens.
Iceland Nomads is specially designed for groups of 2 or 3 people.
Unfortunately, our road trip is not designed for solo travelers, mainly due to the long distances to cover. That's why we recommend traveling with at least 2 people.
Additionally, prices are always calculated based on 2 people. It is possible to do the road trip alone, but in that case, you will have to pay double the base price.
Within 5 days of your registration, you will need to pay a 35% deposit to confirm your road trip. After that, you have until 45 days before departure to change your options and pay the remaining amount. If you make any changes, the deposit will be automatically recalculated.
If you haven’t opted for the damage coverage, you’ll also need to pay a security deposit before departure (more information can be found in the insurance section).
There are various payment options. Did your payment fail? There might have been an error when entering the reference number, or you may have exceeded your account limit.
You can always cancel your road trip. Here you can find the terms and conditions. Additionally, you can also rely on the Superflex cancellation conditions until 1/03/2026.
You can travel with your children, as long as you don't exceed the number of 3 people per car.
From our experience, we know that with the luggage and equipment we provide (cooking gear, table, chairs, sleeping bags, etc.), it is not comfortable to travel with 2 adults and 3 children in the same car.
For the younger children, we suggest they sleep in the rooftop tent between their parents. For children over 8 years old, we will provide an additional ground tent.
We offer a fully planned 7 or 10-days road trip through Iceland, which means it’s not possible to adjust the duration or itinerary of the trip. However, you’re of course free to extend your trip on your own initiative.
Upon your arrival in Iceland, you will be warmly welcomed by our on-site rangers. They will greet you and provide you with a brief explanation before you begin your 10-day road trip.
During your journey, you will find all the useful information in our app. Additionally, just before your departure, you will gain access to a WhatsApp group with all the participants leaving on the same date. In this group, you can communicate with each other, and someone from the team will also be available in case of an emergency.
Thanks to our collaboration with Greentripper, you can offset the CO₂ emissions linked to your trip. Your contribution supports a certified project in Uganda that distributes more efficient cooking stoves, significantly reducing fuel consumption. Travelbase also contributes to this initiative.
No, you can't take this trip with your own car or camper van. You're booking an all-inclusive trip with us.
No, that's not possible. The trip is designed for two people. We do not recommend participating alone, as some routes are long and can be tiring for just one person. Additionally, you would have to cover all the costs (rental, itinerary, campsites, and organization).
Animals are not allowed on this trip for practical and logistical reasons. Thank you for your understanding.
You can do this at the campgrounds where you spend the night. All campgrounds have sanitary facilities. There are also regular stops along the way, and many viewpoints, waterfalls, and tourist sites have public restrooms.
Yes, it's possible. A maximum of 3 people is allowed per car or campervan. If you book for 3, you'll get a €250 discount for the 7-day trip or a €350 discount for the 10-day trip.
If the third person is under 8 years old, they will sleep in the rooftop tent, and you'll receive a €500 or €700 discount. For children over 8 or adults, an additional ground tent is provided.
Prices may increase as availability decreases. Seasonal factors also play a role. So, it's beneficial to book early.
Don't worry: with the right gear, it's totally doable. Rooftop tents are wind and rainproof and suited for Iceland's changing climate. Warm clothing is definitely recommended, especially at night.
Yes, it's possible. A 35% deposit is required at the time of booking. The balance is to be paid later.
